Nic George

Nic George hails from Neath, in South Wales. He moved to Exmouth in 1987 to study Primary Art Education at Rolle College and quickly fell in love with the sea and surrounding areas. On the most dramatic of days, Nic can be found windsurfing off Exmouth beach or exploring the hills on his mountain bike. These are the times that inspire him the most and provide the influence for his dramatic work, which captures the tone and movement of both sea and land.
His work is predominantly in acrylic and he uses an intense process of layering to create works with atmosphere and emotion. All of the titles of Nic’s paintings have titles linked to the poems and writing of Dylan Thomas who is one of his heroes.
When he is not working as an artist, Nick tutors students with additional needs and also runs an Art Consultancy Business which supports schools and teacher training in art. This is a very diverse role for him which can involve anything from teaching art courses to undertaking large scale murals with the support of communities.
