Julie Dunster

'Have you ever had a moment when you simply have to pause, to admire the view, revel in the atmosphere, feel glad that you are alive? Living in Devon, it’s easy to be inspired by the countryside, coast and sky.

 

Julie Dunster's landscape paintings are either created ‘en plein air’ or in her Mid Devon studio. When painting outside, in all weathers, she is driven by the urgency of catching the light and the sense of place. In her studio, these impressions are refined into slower paintings, created by layers, glazes and scumbles - a distillation of time, memory and emotion.

 

Julie (SWAc) has exhibited and sold seascapes, landscapes and portraits at the Mall Galleries in London, exhibiting with prestigious societies such as the Royal Society of Marine Artists, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Society of Women Artists, and the South West Academy of Fine Arts.

Julie has written a number of articles for The Artist magazine and was the judge at the inaugural Exeter Plein Air event in 2024.
